Hinter der relativ kleinen Firma Strymon steckt ein Team von begeisterten Musikern und Entwicklern, die zum Teil vorher bei Line 6 aktiv waren. Die Philosophie bei Strymon ist es, Geräte ohne jeden Kompromiss zu bauen. Um das zu erreichen, setzt man beim Hersteller nur auf die besten Komponenten und extrem leistungsfhige Prozessoren. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, betreibt Strymon intensive Forschungs- und Entwicklungarbeit.

Herausgekommen ist dabei die dBucketTM-Technologie. Die emuliert auf der digitalen Ebene den warmen Klang analoger Eimerketten-Delay-Schaltungen, indem die einzelnen Bauteile einer solchen Schaltung simuliert werden. Dabei werden auch kleinste Abweichungen und Nuancen erfasst, um einen Klangcharakter zu erzielen, der eigen, angenehm und einfach gut ist. Die dBucketTM-Technologie steht jedoch nicht nur in den Delays zur Verfügung, sondern sorgt auch in anderen Modulations-Effekten wie Flanger, Chorus und Vibrato für den entscheidenden Schuss analoger Autentizität, der vielen anderen digitalen Effekte- Prozessoren oft abgeht. Der große Vorteil dieser Tchnologie liegt aber nicht nur im überragenden Klang, sondern auch in den Möglichkeiten, diesen zu formen. Die Artefakte, die einen Teil des originalen Klangs ausmachten, lassen sich einzeln bestimmen. So kann ein Effekt nicht nur analog und warm klingen, sondern gleichzeitig auch ohne strendes Rauschen daherkommen. Ein weiterer Meilenstein ist Strymons dTapeTM-Technologie, die – wie der Name schon erahnen lsst – sich der Emulation eines analogen Bandechos widmet. Auch hier geht es darum, die klanglichen Vorzüge gekoppelt mit den Artefakten zu einem warmen und durchsetzungsfhigen Sound zu vereinen, der modernen Anforderungen genügt.
Strymon hat sehr genau die Bandgeschwindigkeiten, mechanische Gegebenheiten, den Bias-Pegel und weitere Parameter erfasst und auf der digitalen Ebene emuliert.
